Transformative Translation: Translation Request
Vision and Mission:
More than 30% of Hawai'i Island speaks a language at home other than English, yet our schools communicate almost entirely in English with our families. This problem is not insurmountable; our students are the solution. Transformative Translation is a program that seeks to elevate the power of multilingualism and make our community more linguistically inclusive by educating, training, and giving high school students in West Hawai'i work experience in the field of translation.

We are always looking for diverse materials to translate that would impact and improve our community as our mission is just as much about opening up opportunities for students as it is making our community more linguistically accessible and welcoming.  In the past we have translated short phrases to be posted on signs, social media posts, mission statements, blurbs for newsletters, event flyers, and many other items. Our students typically work with materials that are 2 pages or less in length and that do not have any legal or medical implications/repercussions (they are still students and do make errors occasionally).

As of this moment we can translate most materials into Spanish, Marshallese, Tagalog, and Ilocano.  Due to fewer student translators in Kosraean and Mandarin we can only take shorter messages for those languages.

Aloha and thank you for considering our interns for your translation needs! For many of our interns this is their first paid work experience translating after learning about and practicing translation in University courses. They are excited for the experience. Please note the following:
