Application: Open Hardware MiniConf 2020
Stop! Read these important points before submitting this application form!

This workshop has been specifically designed for people who are new to hardware, and our aim is to have a welcoming and relaxed environment - unlike the blunt application process you're about to read :-)

1. This application form is for the hardware assembly tutorial which will take place over the first couple of sessions in the Open Hardware MiniConf. If you don't know what this means, please see www.openhardwareconf.org or read the announcement email before you go any further with this form.

2.You do NOT need to submit this form to attend the talks. If you want to do that, just come along! This application form is only for people who want to purchase a hardware kit and assemble it during the morning tutorial.

3. Attendance at the Open Hardware MiniConf is only open to attendees of linux.conf.au 2020. You MUST register for LCA if you want to attend the MiniConf, and you will be required to wear your LCA2020 badge while at the venue. If you wish to attend just the MiniConf please contact the LCA organisers to inquire whether a MiniConf-only day pass is available.

4. This application form does NOT gurantee you a place in the assembly tutorial. If the numbers are high we may need to give preference to those with less experience or from under-represented communities.

5. In an effort to make the event accessible to all, we are making a number of subsidised diversity tickets available. If you wish to apply for a subsidised diversity ticket, please select the "Subsidised Ticket" below.

6. At last year's event, people generously sponsored a number of diversity tickets. We were overwhelmed by this generosity and desire to support a diverse event. If you would like to help sponsor a diversity ticket this year, please select the "Supporter Ticket" below.

7. The assembly tutorial project for 2020 is the Dingo Car / Perception Module.  The kit of parts costs AU$140 and after the tutorial the hardware is yours to keep, use, and extend for your own projects. The actual value of the kit is about AU$260.

8. This application form does not require any payment. Once we've collected details of interested people we'll contact you to let you know if a spot has been allocated to you.

If you have any questions about this process please contact Jonathan Oxer (jon@oxer.com.au) or Andy Gelme (geekscape@gmail.com)

Name *
Email Address *
Without a valid email address, we can't contact you or allocate you a spot!
Soldering experience *
How much experience have you had with soldering?
Do you need tools? *
Some people prefer to use their own tools. If you already have your own tools that you can bring along on the day (a soldering iron, cutters, etc) please let us know so we don't have to bring along so many ourselves. Note: electrical gear such as soldering irons will need a current Test-and-Tag sticker.
Do you identify as belonging to an under-represented group?
Our goal is to increase diversity at the event by prioritising allocation of tickets to people from under-represented groups. However, defining exactly what this means is impossible, so we're not going to try. It's up to you to decide if you identify as belonging to an under-represented group. NOTE: If you tick this box, that fact will not be disclosed to anyone outside the core OHMC organisers, and will ONLY be used when prioritising ticket allocations.
