In 2019, the first Global Refugee Forum (GRF) was held in Geneva on 17-18 December. It followed the affirmation of the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR), an international agreement that intends to provide the framework for a more predictable, equitable and supportive response to refugee situations. The 2019 GRF was the largest-ever gathering on refugee issues, bringing together around 3,000 participants from governments, international organisations, civil society, (I)NGOs, the private sector, and academia, and generated over 1,400 pledges across a broad range of areas, including protection, education, livelihoods, and responsibility sharing.
From 13-15 December 2023, the second GRF will be held in Geneva at the ministerial level, co-hosted by UNHCR and Switzerland and co-convened by Colombia, France, Japan, Jordan, Niger and Uganda. Like the first GRF and the HLOM, the 2023 GRF will be an opportunity to build on the progress made by governments and other stakeholders towards the implementation of the GCR and the pledges and initiatives previously announced.
The Refugee Council of Turkey (TMK) and the Global Refugee-Led Network (GRN) MENA Chapter are convening a regional consultation on refugee priorities ahead of the Global Refugee Forum (GRF), which will take place in Geneva from 13-15 December 2023, to ensure that the perspectives of refugees and host communities are reflected in the discussions at the GRF and that the policy priorities are rooted in the priorities and needs of affected communities.
This short online survey is an important part of this consultation process. It is designed to create a snapshot of views on the issues refugees are facing and recommendations for addressing them. This survey will be live until Thursday 26 October 2023. All responses received will be analyzed by the TMK and GRN MENA team to produce an initial snapshot of respondents’ policy priorities and will feed into the regional consultation meeting to be held on Tuesday, 7 November, as well as discussions to take place at the GRF.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey and share your views.
