Kids in 6th - 12th grades can participate in our teen reading challenge by attending our weekly meetings, Wed. at 4:30 at the library, and bringing their reading records with them.
Each complete reading of a book, including audio books and novels read for school, counts toward your child's goal. The program goal points are: 1, 10, 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450, and 500 books.
You may choose to track your child's reading through a paper log sheet (get one at the library), the
Reader Zone app (contact us for the code), on regular paper, on a white board, or whatever works for you. Come into the library with your filled-out log (after reading 100 books), email Miss Val at
vcyouthlib@gmail.com, or message the library on Facebook with each goal you reach. You may also send a photo of your child holding a printed or handwritten sign showing the milestone and/or a book, for the library to share your child's success on their Facebook page (optional). For each goal your child reaches, they may choose a prize and a free book at the library. If you are using Reader Zone to track your child's reading, show your progress to the downstairs clerk (on your phone or printed from the website) if Miss Val is not present. Otherwise, just show them your paper log or a picture of it.
