As climate change looms, we need to do everything we can to protect the seagrass beds, coral gardens, and complex ecosystems that make up this marine sanctuary. Right now, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is considering a plan to more strongly protect the Florida Keys. To protect the ocean life Americans love, we need NOAA to take bold action and increase protections for more of the Keys’ most sensitive habitats. Sign the petition below and save corals and seagrass beds!
Petition to Restore our Keys
Dear Administrator Spinrad,

Home to the continental U.S.’ largest coral reef, the Florida Keys is a national treasure—one that is increasingly at risk.

As climate change looms, we need you to do everything you can to protect the seagrass beds, coral gardens, and complex ecosystems that make up this National Marine Sanctuary.   The Jewish tradition calls on us to serve and protect our world (Genesis 2:15), and to ensure that the goodness of God's creation extends to future generations.

In light of these values, we urge you to:

Prevent propeller damage in the Keys’ shallow, sensitive habitats by slowing boats in shallow waters throughout the Sanctuary.
Fully protect habitats at Boca Chica in the Lower Keys, Carysfort Reef in the Upper Keys, and the Tortugas Corridor to create corridors for sensitive marine life and help preserve the ecosystems.
Ensure that we are protecting healthy, deep coral reefs by adding the coral gardens of Pulley Ridge to the Sanctuary boundaries.
