Please complete this form if you intend to enroll your student(s) in MIonline for the 2020-2021 school year. We will be able to provide additional information and staff assignments once we receive a commitment from families and have a better idea of the number of students from each grade we will be serving. As additional questions and answers are available, we will post them to our MIonline webpage:
https://www.mercerislandschools.org/Domain/2374. Please complete a separate form for each student you intend to enroll in MIonline.
*** MIonline IS NOT the same as the Red "Remote" Learning model
Elementary Enrollment
Students enrolled in MIonline will be assigned a single teacher for the year. This teacher will be credentialed in Washington State but MAY NOT necessarily be an MISD employee. If we do not have enough students in certain grade levels, we will use one of our online partners who have a teacher and their own online curriculum. The amount of teacher and student interaction will be less than what is offered by the Red "Remote" MISD schedule. Families can expect weekly one-one or small group meetings, but much of the work is completed asynchronously and requires the support of a trusted adult or parent. The younger the student the more support needed.
Middle and High School Enrollment
Students enrolled in MIonline will select courses available from our online partners. Course selection, particularly for high school students, is critical because of the implications for preparing for the next grade level as well as on-time graduation. The academic counselors at IMS and MIHS will be critical in supporting students when making course selections. An MISD staff member will be assigned to students to check-in and support.
