- Students with critical analytical skills, who can bring a nuanced and critical view to University policy
- Creativity and cooperation skills to engage with fellow councillors and present solutions to issues raised by students
- Someone who is ready to invest time and energy into their position, and to the DSP's activities and ambitions
- Someone who is willing to listen to their fellow students about their experiences and translate their voice into concrete policy and actionWhile we ask about your experience and Dutch proficiency, we would like to stress those are NOT requirements for becoming a council member. The university, unfortunately, has not always provided adequate translation services in the past, however, DSP is committed to solving this issue with or without the help of the University. We welcome all nationalities and language backgrounds, as should Leiden University. We have previously focused on issues such as internationalisation, facilities at Campus The Hague, and mental health provisions. Students receive a small amount of compensation for their work on a faculty council. Being on the University Council is equivalent to having a part-time job, that takes place weekly on Mondays consisting of multiple meetings throughout the day.
