DSP Councilor Application 2023
The Democratic Students Party - The Hague is looking for applicants from students who wish to run for certain Faculty Councils and the University Council in the 2023-2024 academic year. We aim to represent all students from Leiden University, but focus on international students. The deadline for applications is March 10th 23:59 CET and interviews will take place in the following week.

We are looking for:
- Ambition and drive when it comes to facilitating constructive and sustainable change for your fellow students
- Students with critical analytical skills, who can bring a nuanced and critical view to University policy
- Creativity and cooperation skills to engage with fellow councillors and present solutions to issues raised by students
- Someone who is ready to invest time and energy into their position, and to the DSP's activities and ambitions
- Someone who is willing to listen to their fellow students about their experiences and translate their voice into concrete policy and action

While we ask about your experience and Dutch proficiency, we would like to stress those are NOT requirements for becoming a council member. The university, unfortunately, has not always provided adequate translation services in the past, however, DSP is committed to solving this issue with or without the help of the University. We welcome all nationalities and language backgrounds, as should Leiden University.

We have previously focused on issues such as internationalisation, facilities at Campus The Hague, and mental health provisions. For more information on the party manifesto, see please see our social media @dspthehague on Instagram or our website https://dspthehague.com/ .

Faculty Councils
The board and council of a faculty meet every six weeks and follow an agenda that the board and council have drawn up in collaboration. Students receive a small amount of compensation for their work on a faculty council. We welcome applications from students in any of Leiden University's faculties.

University Council
There are University Council meetings every week, ranging from informal meetings between party members, official University Council meetings and meetings with the Executive Board. Being on the University Council is equivalent to having a part-time job, that takes place weekly on Mondays consisting of multiple meetings throughout the day. Students that successfully apply to this position and gain a seat on the council receive a monthly salary and partial travel renumeration.
