Location: United Therapeutics – Unisphere Building – Meet at the entrance to 1040 Spring Street, Silver Spring, MD (see attached map)

• 1pm–1:30pm: Check-in at the security desk (enter at 1040 Spring Steet Lobby), and meet and greet (ID required for check-in)
• 1:30pm-2:30pm: Guided Walking Tour of the NetZero Unisphere
• Thomas Kaufman (UT Associate VP of Corporate Real Estate) will be giving the tour
• We will hear United Therapeutics’ sustainability focused strategies to building design and construction
• We will see first-hand the energy efficient and sustainable features of the Unisphere, which includes 3,000 solar panels produce over 1MW of energy, 52 geothermal wells (which required changing Maryland state law to install), hybrid HVAC system utilizing chilled beams and actuated windows for natural ventilation, and an Earth Labyrinth (a quarter-mile concrete maze 12 feet below the building that acts as a natural ventilation system and heat sink) to name a few.
