NVN 2021-2022 Registration
Welcome to the 2021-22 Season!

There are TWO important elements to registering your swimmer (you must complete both, whether you are a new or returning member!):

1. Register with USA Artistic Swimming (USAAS) using this link: https://memberships.sportsengine.com/org/usa-artistic-swimming/affiliation/northern-virginia-nereids 

- Novice and Intermediate: Register as an "Athlete Participant" ($54).

- Age Group (AG): Register as a "Competitive Athlete Participant" ($104).

2. Register for NVN's 2021-22 season by completing the form below AND paying the $75 registration fee. Two options for paying:

- Send a check for $75 to Northern Virginia Nereids, PO Box 1921, Springfield VA 22151; or
- Pay $75 via Zelle from your bank account to "treasurer@nvnsynchro.com"

**Please register by September 1st if possible! The earlier we have an accurate count of registered swimmers, the easier it will be for the coaches and the NVN board to plan and prepare for the season. We will stagger the start of practices as follows:
- Juniors and 12U Age Group will start practice on Monday, September 13.
- 13-15 Age Group will start on Tuesday, September 14.
- Intermediates will start on Tuesday, September 21.
- Novices will start on Monday, September 27.

The practice schedule and fee structure can be found on our website (https://www.nvnsynchro.com/registration). The first monthly fees will be due on September 15.  **For 13-15 and Junior AG, please keep in mind that practice time will mostly likely increase in January (assuming that COVID conditions allow us to compete in regular competitions)-- which would also mean additional fees. We will keep you posted as soon as we have additional details.

I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian for my child. I hereby give my permission for any supervisor, coach, approved chaperone, or other team administrator associated with the Northern Virginia Nereids to seek and give appropriate medical attention for our child in the event of accident, injury, illness. I will be responsible for any and all costs associated with any necessary medical attention and/or treatment. I hereby waive, release and forever discharge Northern Virginia Nereids and associated supervisor, coach, approved chaperone, or other team administrator from all rights and claims for damages, injury, loss to person or property which may be sustained or occur during participation in Northern Virginia Nereids activities, whether or not damages or loss is due to negligence. By registering my child with the Northern Virginia Nereids, I agree to participate (or allow my child and family members to participate) in the Northern Virginia Nereids, and hereby release Northern Virginia Nereids, its directors, officers, agents, coaches, chaperones, and employees from liability for any injury that might occur to myself (or to my child and family members) while participating in the Northern Virginia Nereids program, including travel to and from training sessions, swim meets or other scheduled team activities. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the above mentioned organizations and/or individuals, their agents and/or employees, against any and all liability for personal injury, including injuries resulting in death to me, my child and/or other family members, or damage to my property, the property to my child and/or other family members, or both, while I (or my child or family members) participating in the Northern Virginia Nereids program. *
By registering my child with the Northern Virginia Nereids, I will be responsible for all costs associated with participating in the program to include: Membership Costs Installment Payments: Membership costs are used to cover pool rental fees, coaching, team equipment, and administrative costs. Membership costs are determined for the entire season and paid in nine installments, due on September 15th, then the 15th of each month until May 15th. Payments should be made by the 15th of the month starting September 15th and ending May 15th.  Payments are considered late by the 25th of the month due and may be assessed a 10% late fee. Fees that are not paid within 30 days will cause a swimmer to not be allowed to attend practice and/or compete at a meet until the payment is made. We realize there are extenuating circumstances sometimes, so please contact the treasurer when you have issues with payment. For swimmers that start during the middle of the season, membership costs are pro-rated for the remaining portion of the season and will be determined by the Treasurer. Additional Fees: Parents will be responsible for additional fees such as meet fees (usually $25 -$35/meet; NVN usually attends 4-5 meets per year), suit rental costs ($30 per swimsuit), swimmer’s equipment (See equipment purchase form), water show tickets ($10 each), and travel (varies on meet location). Note: meet fees are generally non-refundable once an athlete is registered for a meet, even if the athlete does not attend. Volunteering: Every family is asked to volunteer to support the team in some way during the season. Our annual Capitol Classic invitational meet is one of the opportunities. It is scheduled for March, and will need many hands to run smoothly!  Drop Policy: Because of the nature of synchronized swimming, when you join the team, it is with the expectation of completing the entire season (Sept – June).  In the event that a swimmer must leave the team before completing the season, the member must give 30 days’ notice in writing to the Head Coach and Treasurer. The member will be responsible for all the fees incurred up to the date of severance including meet fees, equipment, or travel which cannot be refunded to the team or returned. **20-21 season only, there may be a fluctuation in fees. If novice and intermediate go until the end of June, there may be an additional charge (see FCPA calendar on the website) *
NVN synchro activities, practices, and events sometimes are video/photographed for purposes of news media coverage or team publications (newsletters, website, brochure, etc), and for instructional purposes. I agree to allow my child to be videotaped, photographed, and interviewed for news media, team publicity, or instructional purposes. If you choose "no" - please note that we will make every effort not to use a picture of your child for the above purposes, but pictures will most likely be taken by our photographer and others during NVN activities. *
