EA DC Animal Welfare: Animal Advocacy in Politics
Join the D.C. Effective Altruism Animal Welfare Group for a discussion about animal advocacy in local and national politics on Thursday, Jan. 27 at 6pm.

We will be joined by D.C. Voters for Animals President Max Broad and Co-Founder of Food Solutions Action Praveen Varanasi. Effective Altruism is a movement that seeks to use our resources most efficiently improve the world by seeking out solutions to important problems that are both tractable and neglected. Applied to animals, this means looking for solutions to animal suffering that maximize the number of animals helped. It is far from obvious what this looks like in practice!

This discussion will go into what the landscape for animals in politics is, a discussion on "effective political advocacy", and political levers that we can take to prevent animal suffering. Our discussion will be inclusive of a wide range of viewpoints, with participants from all political persuasions welcome!
