About Jennifer:
I began studying rhythm via African drumming & dance in 1997 and have been teaching since 2007. I have experience teaching adult classes, high school & middle school drum ensembles, private classes, corporate groups and private special occasion events.
Though I have had many teachers along the way, my fundamentals are based on the teachings of Babatunde Olatunji (1927-2003), using his Gun Go-Do Pa-Ta method. Baba, as he was affectionately known, was at the forefront of bringing African Rhythm, Dance and Culture to the United States in the 1950's. I was fortunate that my first drum teacher, Zorina Wolff, introduced me to Baba and I was able to study consistently with him for the latter part of his life. I continued my studies for many years after his passing with close partners of Baba, who know his material well and were long-time members of his Drums of Passion group.

Connecting through rhythm is an experience grounded in time and centuries of cultural exchange. Teaching rhythm-through-drumming is one of my passions.
RhythmForRenewal classes are my offering for those who would like to spend a little time each week learning new skills, building capacities and cultivating joyful connection.
