IGNITE UiT is a student rocketry organization, with focus on giving students hands-on experience and with a goal to compete in the europen championship for student rockets in Portugal (EuRoC 2024).
We don't require any previous knowledge in 3D-modeleing, electronics or rocketry!
At the moment the following position are available in the mechanical team and the payload team:
Airframe:
- Responsibility: designing and manufacturing the actual rocket structure.
- What you learn: computational fluid dynamics, composite materials (theory and hands on)
Mounting:
- Responsibility: mounting all internal components, which will experience a lot of acceleration and vibrations during launch, to the rocket. The design should also be easy to put together and take apart.
- What you learn: product development, structure and vibration analysis, topology optimization
Recovery:- Responsibility: getting the rocket safe down using parachutes, which will have to be deployed autonomously. Testing is essential for recovery.
- What you learn: system engineering, how to pack parachutes, conducting tests.
Avionics:
- Responsibility: Having controll of the rocket, and always know where it is.
- What you learn: Hands-on work with embedded software to the electrical systems.
Payload:
- Responsibility: for planning, designing and building the payload, which will be deployed autonomously out of the rocket that will containe a scientific mission.
- What you learn: system engineering, product development and work in a large team.
We require from you:
- Motivation
- Curiosity; to learn new things
- 5 hours of work a week
- Active until October 2024
What you can expect from your time in Ignite UiT:
