Cloud Underground DevSecOps Dojo Application
*WARNING* If this assessment form feels like a lot of reading, the Dojo is not for you.  Expect to read a LOT during your time in the DevSecOps Dojo – knowledge is power.

The DevSecOps Dojo from Cloud Underground is an online training center and business co-op for senior developers (and those aspiring to become senior level) and entrepreneurs to build and refine edge computing, cloud development, ethical hacking and DevSecOps skills. This is not a short-term investment – members are expected to participate for months at a time to get the most out of joining the Dojo. This is to ensure the development of muscle memory that imparts permanent foundational developer skills to all participating members who get fully involved in community operations.

Dojo members will be building a genuine open-source cloud platform together, so it is imperative that we enforce standards to keep operations moving smoothly. In other words, trainees will be learning more than technical skills – you will also learn the business skills that make cloud hosting and delivery possible. This is NOT a beginner-friendly experience, but we will not turn down those willing to pull up their sleeves and work hard to fast-forward cloud-native cybersecurity and developer careers.

To join the DevSecOps Dojo, it’s important to make sure you already know enough basics to begin working toward your white belt right away. Since the Dojo does require monthly dues of $150 for all members in the co-op, beginners might consider self learning until you are familiar with what "container images" are and how to use them.

*Who is the DevSecOps Dojo for?*
- Entrepreneurs who might not be at a senior level of development but intend to do their own product development and engineering
- Senior-level developers looking for a change of pace
- Tinkerers and DIY builders who have moderate technical experience – such as building a gaming computer or working with a Raspberry Pi
- Senior level network administrators or engineers interested in cloud-native development
- Those who see themselves as HARDCORE and want a challenge, even if it’s uncomfortable
- Those ethically interested in learning the “Science of War” by digital means

Please be aware that the skills taught in this Dojo can be highly volatile, and we require that members agree to operate under a code of ethics or be banned from the group. We operate under modernized virtues of Bushido (the Samurai code of ethics), which you will learn more about upon joining the DevSecOps Dojo.

Some say Sensei Nato Riley knows everything about computers.  He doesn’t – not at all – he just comes from an underworld and knows things “normal” folks simply don’t (and most never will). Who better to build and lead the Cloud Underground movement?

*Members who agree to join the Dojo automatically agree to abide by:*
- Justice: No bullying or coercive treatment of fellow members. Help your fellow Cloud Underground team with their endeavors as you grow in power.
- Courage: What we teach can be highly uncomfortable – you must power through these feelings of discomfort to grow to the next level.
- Mercy: Do not “strike to kill,” and do not harm (not just physically injure – do not harm reputations, breach privacy or intentionally trouble) your fellow Dojo members. Maintain self-control when offensively engaged with others to ensure this.
- Politeness: If a member expresses concern about your treatment toward them, respect their boundaries (we are all adults here; do not abuse this rule to censor others).
- Honesty: Be honest with others, and most importantly be honest with yourself.
- Honor: Fight for glory.
- Loyalty: Treat your fellow Dojo members as allies.
- Self-control: You are responsible for your own actions. We will ban members who exhibit no boundaries with volatile skills (do NOT break the law or abuse others).

Administrators have the right to contain situations and respond to incidents by any means approved by Sensei Nato Riley.

A voting system will also provide elevated member rights to Dojo members qualified as “round-table members.” This classification ranking provides a “Senpai” badge that grants special privileges to badge holders. All members are able to rank up to earn round-table status, which requires at least 10 months for standard members to earn through real world efforts.

You may use the knowledge you learn in the DevSecOps Dojo to deploy whatever new inventions or technologies you would like. Whatever you invent and build with your own hands is yours to use however you please. This Dojo is dedicated to the open-source revolution, so tools we develop will all be released as open-source packages you may also use to boost your own innovations.

Why do we just give knowledge away freely? We are dedicated to the technologies of tomorrow, not the technologies of yesterday. Those who want to learn legacy techniques and technologies should consider looking elsewhere.

This is a long-term endeavor – like attending university – that isn’t all sunshine, daisies and lollipops. Expect to read and learn the following:

*Knowledge Trades (from the mind of Nato):*
- Security as Code and Infrastructure as Code with Docker and Kubernetes isolated cluster modeling
- Advanced product development budgeting
- System planning and provisioning
- Social engineering strategies for anticipating human-driven results
- Code theory
- First principle thinking
- Application of the Scientific Method
- Ethical hacking
- Volatile development
- DevSecOps
- Application of Bujutsu (Science of War)
- Application of the “Art of War” in the digital era
- Advanced philosophy of societal trends and architectures
- Ring leader theory (underworld operational strategy)
- Cloud engineering
- Cloud hacking
- Multi-architecture engineering
- Platform agnostic development
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Distributed supercomputing
- Advanced offensive defense
- The fabric of the internet that makes up the Deep Web, Dark Web and the Surface Web
- Advanced negotiation tactics and strategy
- Advanced business economics for development
- Underworld knowledge

Recommended hardware considerations for Dojo members include Raspberry Pi 4B (4 or 8 GB RAM) or NVIDIA Jetson (Nano, or Xavier models are all great choices) developer kits. Using hardware outside of the Raspberry Pi and Jetson Nano platforms is approved; however, other Dojo members will likely be unable to assist you with troubleshooting on alternative systems unless someone shares a similar hardware build as you.

Creativity is encouraged. But be aware that we are unable to support what we cannot test, so our engineering will be centered around Raspberry Pi and Jetson Nano hardware as the recommended starting point for engineering.

As you rank up, you will learn how to make all hardware communicate and operate in harmony.  It will take over two years of development to earn a black belt in this Dojo. This is a marathon, so this is not for anyone in a hurry to know everything overnight.

*All members who join the Dojo automatically agree to Cloud Underground’s terms and conditions.*

Provide your full first and last name (as you would provide to an employer). *
Create your introduction video based on the parameters below, and provide a link here. (You may upload this video to LinkedIn, Google Drive, YouTube, Vimeo or a similar platform that we approve.) *
Introduction Video Requirements
Provide a link with a Dojo introduction video where we can see your face and know your name. As a volatile development entity, we require this for trust purposes. We are building a fully operational cloud together in this online co-op, and trust is necessary for this operation to succeed. (If you are accepted into the Dojo, this intro video will be posted in Discord to be seen by ALL other Dojo members – this is your introduction to the crew.)

In your video, please address the following points:

- Who are you, and what is something you enjoy?
- Why do you want to join the DevSecOps Dojo?
- What is your professional background and existing skills?
- What are your career goals?
- Tell us more about yourself (whatever you’d like to share with the crew).
