2025 Canada Summer Games Coaching Application
The Alberta Amateur Wrestling Association is now actively taking applications for the coaching staff for the 2025 Canada Summer Games to represent team Alberta in St. John's, Newfoundland, August 8-24, 2025. The games will be split into 2 phases, but we are currently unsure which phase wrestling will be scheduled.  The Canada Games Coaching Staff will be selected by the Alberta Amateur Wrestling Association executive committee. Four positions are available: 1 Mentor Coach, 1 Men's Head Coach, 1 Women's Head Coach and 1 Apprentice Coach

Mentor Coach - An experienced coach that assists the head coaches and apprentice coach develop the necessary skills to lead the provincial program. Also assists in a managerial role, helping carry out the programs of both head coaches. 

Men's Head Coach - Oversees the talent identification, development and training of the provincial men's program 

Women's Head Coach - Oversees the talent identification, development and training of the provincial women's program 

Apprentice Coach - Works under the guidance of the mentor coach and head coaches to develop the skills necessary for provincial team coaching duties. Assists with talent identification, development and training of both programs.

In order to apply, coaches must fill out the following application link no later than August 11, 2023.  Those applying for a position on the Canada Summer Games Staff will be expected to provide a synopsis of their coaching/managerial qualifications, experience and what they would bring to the provincial team if they were selected as a coach.

Candidates will be considered based on their coaching credentials, communication and organizational skills, ability to work with a vast and diverse membership base, their vision for the program and their commitment and experience with the provincial program and willingness/ability to complete the NCCP certification requirements.

At the discretion of the executive, a pool of coaches may be selected, with the final coaching roster being named at a later date.

Expected duties before the team selection in the spring of 2025 would include:
Participating and assisting with the organization of the Alberta Wrestling Provincial Program being developed for the fall of 2023 through August 2025
Organization and oversight of Talent ID camps and other team training/competition opportunities
Complete the NCCP certification requirements, including the required Safe Sport Modules, by May 2025
        o Competition-Development Certified
        o Background Screening
        o Making Ethical Decisions Evaluation
        o Making Headway in Sport
        o Safe Sport Training

Expected duties after the team selection in the spring of 2025 would include:
Organization and oversight of team training camps (April – August 2025)
Organization and oversight of any out-of-province training opportunities
Organization and ordering of team gear/singlets
Attendance at Team Alberta Coaches Meeting and Team Staging in Summer 2025
Attendance and coaching duties at the 2025 Canada Summer Games in August 2025
