2020-2021 Student Instructional Model
USD 210 understands that not all families have the same health situation. Each family's need is unique and varied. Because of this, parents may choose to have their child learn in an in-person guided setting at school (in person or hybrid based on health in the district), or in a remote setting (at home). This will allow families to make a choice that best suits their individual needs.

For families who choose in-person, students will be expected to follow the phase model of health/safety guidelines established by the Board of Education. It is the goal of the USD 210 Board of Education, to provide instruction in person as long as it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our staff and students.

For those who choose remote learning at home, the expectations will be different than they were last spring.

Requirements for Remote Learning:

1. Students will need to complete a daily log of courses and activities worked on each day;
Amount of time spent on school work in a remote setting should be equal to 6.5 hours per day.

2. Students will have access to activities and instruction provided by USD 210 staff. Instruction may look different from building to building, and teacher to teacher.

3. Students will have contact with a staff member from USD 210 each day.

4. Assignments completed will be graded and will go towards transcript/report card grades.

5. Successful demonstration of learning will be required to achieve promotion of grade level, or to earn a completed credit.

6. Students who CHOOSE remote learning as their instructional model WILL NOT BE PERMITTED to participate in USD 210 extra-curricular or co-curricular activities. This includes: athletics, scholars' bowl, quiz bowl, choir, band, dances. This ONLY pertains to students doing remote learning by choice. If a student must do remote learning due to mandated quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19 exposure or a positive test, they will be allowed to return to their extra-curricular activities once they have been cleared to return to school by the Stevens County Health Department or their medical doctor.

7. There will be a 3 week choice period in each 9 weeks in which a family can decide to enter into remote learning OR move from remote learning into the current phase of learning as dictated by USD 210. Once this choice period has ended for the 9 weeks, students will need to continue on their learning path for the remainder of that 9 weeks period. If circumstances change and a parent wishes to change their child's instructional setting outside of the 3-week choice period, they will need to make a request in writing to their child's building administrator.  Each request will be considered on a case by case basis.
