2024 ATV High Adventure
Are you ready for a great adventure?  We have booked a trip to the Summit in West Virginia to participate in the highly-sought-after and hard-to-get ATV High Adventure Trek.  You can check out the details of the program here:  https://www.summitbsa.org/programs/national-high-adventure-base/trek/atv-trek/

Our program runs June 21-27, 2024.  We will most likely drive to the Summit early the morning on June 21 and return to Atlanta late in the evening on June 27.  This program is for Scouts who are at least 14 years old by the time the trip starts.  We estimate the trip will cost about $1975.  We must have at least 8 participants/adults but we can take up to 12!  Trip cost includes everything (except for personal equipment) from departure to arrival and requires at least two adults to drive personal vehicles.  If you'd like to see the required personal equipment, check out pages 7 and 8 of this guide:  https://www.summitbsa.org/programs/national-high-adventure-base/trek/atv-trek/

Important Trip Requirements to Consider:

ATV WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS
The 2 types of ATVs that are used for the Experience have weight and age limits specified by the manufacturer that The Summit adheres to:

-Phoenix 200 ATV (14+) 215 lbs. regardless of height.

-450 Sportsman (16+) 295 lbs. regardless of height.

-The Phoenix 200 can be ridden by those over 16 if they weigh below 215 and fit safely on the vehicle.

-Participants under 16 that weigh over 215 lbs. are not eligible for the Polaris ATV Experience.
-Minimum weight requirement is 115 pounds.

ASI (ATV SAFETY INSTITUTE) E-COURSE
www.atvsafety.org/atv-ecourse
Prior to your arrival, each participant must complete the 2 ½ hour free ATV e-course. The link to that class is above and upon completion either print the certificate or take a screen shot (that includes their name and course ID number). This information will be given to your instructors on the first day of your experience prior to taking the “hands-on” ATV Rider S-Course.

Special Dietary Needs or Notes to Trip Coordinator
I understand that this trip will be physically challenging and that this is not just an easy sit-down ride on ATVs.  I commit to being physically strong and prepared for this trip.  I understand and have reviewed the required personal equipment for this trip.  I understand that participants aged 14 and 15 must weigh under 215 pounds.  I understand that all participants must weigh under 295 pounds.  I understand that I must be a registered Scout or Adult with the BSA to go on this trip.  I will complete the 2.5 hour e-course by the deadline established by the Crew.  I will complete all paperwork and training (including health forms with physical, YPT, etc.) in a timely fashion.   I will make my best effort to attend any meetings and training outings with the Crew.  Guide with details, including personal gear list:  https://summitbsa.wpenginepowered.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Polaris-ATV-Experience-Program-Supplement.pdf *
Reservations are not complete until the $200 deposit is received.  The Summit has required participant/advisor ratios, and YPT guidelines must be met.  If there is overwhelming early interest, the Troop/Crew Committee may have to select the Crew from the completed reservations and create a wait list for those not selected.  If you have questions, please call Christie Hunt at 404.992.0991.
