Fast for peace pledge form
Welcome! The American Union's use of group fasts is inspired by Mohandas Gandhi's fasts for peace in India, which reduced violence and unified diverse people during turbulent times. Each month, men and women from around the US fast together to build the moral, social, and political force to deliver change in 2024. (Click to Tweet your support) The fast is 24 hours without food or intoxicants, drinking only water, and takes place on the 15th of each month. (Email Brian@AnAmericanUnion.com for information about medical exemptions.)

Unionizing as voters is how we can win a better social contract. One part of the process is crowdsourcing the legislative process, creating a package of demands for Congress. No one will like everything in the final package, but by collectively bargaining, we can all come out ahead. Fasting and compromise are two sides of the same coin: willingly giving something up. Participation in the fast demonstrates an ability to compromise and cooperate for larger goals; it puts skin in the game.

Accordingly, members of the American Union have the opportunity to propose amendments or additions to the 2024 legislative package after participating in the monthly fast. Please fill out this form to pledge for the fast; members will get a follow up email afterward with a link to a form for submitting policy proposals.
