In accordance with our mission to empower game developers from backgrounds of historic marginalization, Friendship Garden Game Developers will award 5 Game Developers Conference "Core + Summit" level passes to game developers  who may be otherwise unable to afford to attend. GDC 2020 will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California from March 16 - 20, 2020. For more information about GDC, visit https://gdconf.com/

Application is open to all, although to align with out mission, preference will be given to individuals whose race, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, or religion are mis- or underrepresented in video games.

Application deadline: Saturday December 7th, 11:59 PM PST.

If selected for this program you acknowledge the following: You will attend at least 4 of the 5 days of GDC. Recipients are required to register themselves with the registration code, they will not automatically be registered. If a Letter of Invitation is required for a recipient, it can be requested after their registration is complete. Standard cancellation policies apply - any previously purchased passes will not be refunded. Registration codes are for passes only; no travel costs, or any other expenses, will be covered by GDC. Passes are non-transferable. The value of the “Core + Summits” pass scholarship can be applied toward an upgraded pass – the recipient is responsible for paying the difference in prices at the prevailing rate.

This application form requests personal information. Information shared with Friendship Garden Game Developers via this form can be used for the following purposes: to select program participants, anonymous reporting on recipient demographics, to contact recipients, and to post on social media (only the headshot will be used for this). Please only submit information you are comfortable sharing and having used in the aforementioned ways. Answers submitted will only be accessed by the selection committee, which is made up of the Friendship Garden Board of Directors. Applicants will be notified regarding the status of their application via email by December 31, 2019. Participants selected to receive the scholarship must accept or decline via the scholarship acceptance survey link within 3 days of receiving the notification email.
