Petition: We oppose another warehouse district in SLC

Salt Lake City should not approve any developer upzone requests allowing creation of a warehouse district in the Northpoint area. The damage this kind of development will do to existing residents, Great Salt Lake wetlands, and our air quality is not in the public interest. Salt Lake City needs to develop a comprehensive plan to protect the Great Salt Lake, its wetlands and ecosystems for the benefit of Salt Lake City residents.

The Northpoint area is a unique and sparsely developed area to the east and slightly north of the airport. It includes 60 homes, businesses and agricultural land and is adjacent to some of the highest functioning wetlands of the vanishing Great Salt Lake. Planning for the area needs to focus preserving wetlands and quality of life for residents.  Developers want to build warehouses that will  bring huge increases in truck and other traffic to the area. The neighboring Inland Port could potentially have 152 million square feet of new warehouse development. Why do we need more?
