Alameda 2024 Acorn Harvest Sign-Up
Take part in the First Annual Alameda Acorn Harvest.

Learn about the ancient Live Oak Forests of this place now called "Alameda".  Learn about the nutritional value and the cultural significance of acorns.

Feel free to pitch in for the Acorn Harvest in one of four ways:
  1. Gathering
Gather fallen acorns from the ground, being somewhat selective for whole acorns in seemingly good condition.
  2. Sorting
Throw out old, moldy, and broken acorns.  Throw out acorns with Weevil holes, and soft acorns.  Preserve the strongest, largest and best acorns for storage.
  3. Storing
Double-check there are no Weevil holes as you load acorns into their storage vessels with care.
  4. Transporting
Transport acorns between Gathering, Sorting, and Storing.  Can be a Driver, or Crew.
You should schedule about 5 hours.  Meet at 11am, will have snacks and water (maybe coffee?)  Work until 1:00 pm.  Enjoy Lunch.  Then take an hour for clean-up and storage.
