Both music classes will receive the 6th grade Core Knowledge music content with an emphasis in either Voice or Concert Band as described below:

Concert Choir:
Students enrolled in choir will be learning vocal techniques beyond the lower elementary years; they will also get many solo opportunities and more direct individual instruction.  Students will get to perform regularly between the Holiday concert, a Spring Concert and in class for their peer in a series of what we call Master Class.

Beginning Concert Band:
Students enrolled in the band class will need to provide their own band instrument. (PCK now owns a small body of Band instruments available for students based on a financial need, and will be offered on a first come first served bases. If you feel you may fall into that category, please make arrangements directly with Mrs. Myers.) In August PCK Music will sponsor a band rental afternoon where parents can rent an instrument from a local company. Band instruments that students may choose from include: Percussion, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Alto Sax, Clarinet, Flute and Bass Guitar (4 string Electric). Guitar is not considered a school band instrument therefore is excluded from choices. Mrs. Myers will limit the amount of players in a section of instruments (particularly drums) if it appears that there will be too many of one. These selections will be made on a first come first served basis.
