Una.Resin Survey (Freie Universität Berlin)
Dear Colleague,
Una Europa, an alliance of eight leading European universities, is cooperating to create a truly European inter-university environment, a University of the Future. One of Una Europa’s signature projects is Una. Resin, a joint effort to instigate and develop pilot initiatives to build a common Una Europa eco-system of research and innovation.
This survey, a crucial part of Una.Resin project, shall help us to better understand the policies and practices of the Una Europa universities related to professional development of researchers. It shall enable us to gain knowledge pertaining to the human capital development regulations, policies and organization at the Una Europa Universities.
The survey – apart from the general questions at the beginning – covers eight fields of the envisioned analysis:

1. Career development, i.e. the formal framework specifying the possible career paths, their stages, promotion criteria, the assistance provided in choosing and developing an academic’s career.
2. Performance assessment, i.e. the set of rules / procedures / standards for individual evaluation of the performance of academics, the consequences of an outcome of evaluation, how the criteria and outcomes of evaluation are communicated.
3. Equality and diversity, i.e. how discrimination is prevented and equality and diversity promoted and protected in the human resources processes.
4. Internal knowledge and know-how transfer, i.e., how the organizational system enabling know-how and knowledge exchange within the organization is set up.
5. Team cooperation and interdisciplinarity, i.e. whether and how team cooperation and interdisciplinary cooperation is encouraged along the career development path.
6. Citizen engagement, i.e. whether and how the involvement of the members of the public in scientific research and in science communication is encouraged along the career development path.
7. Business-academia cooperation, i.e. whether and how contacts, consultations and cooperation with, as well as feedback from business stakeholders are encouraged along the career development path.
8. Open science, i.e. whether and how the open access, fair data and other practices which at the transparency and objectivity of scientific research are encouraged along the career development path.

The survey should take approx. 25 minutes to complete. It is anonymous and collects no sensitive data. Your answers will be recorded, stored and processed in accordance with the EU privacy regulations. The anonymized data will be accessed only by the Una.Resin project personnel
