Dear Families,
I'm excited to announce my New York State Assembly Summer Reading Challenge has gone digital this year. I'm partnering with Summer Reading at New York Libraries to encourage continued learning and foster a love of reading this summer.
This year’s theme is “Color Our World”, inspiring readers to embark on a journey of art and creativity. All students in grades K-7 residing within the 139th Assembly District during the 2024-2025 school year are invited to participate.
Students who pledge and read for at least 15 minutes each day, for a minimum of 40 days during July and August, will receive a New York State Assembly Excellence in Reading Certificate from me. To register your child, please provide your information below. My staff will then email you a reading tracker to help record your child's progress once they are ready.
On the 40th day of the challenge, you will receive an email with a simple link to submit your child's completion information and request their Summer Reading Certificate, if they have completed this year's challenge. I recommend submitting this information by Friday, September 12th. Reading trackers don't need to mailed in.
I appreciate your participation and wish you a wonderful summer filled with reading adventures!
Sincerely,
Assemblyman Steve Hawley
