Welcome to the Ghana Cultural Service Learning Tour!

We are pleased to have you join us on this journey.

This Cultural Service Learning Trip  is scheduled for May 25th - June 8th, 2025.

This is a 2 week, all inclusive [LAND PACKAGE] journey that includes service, cultural humility, heritage, disrupting oppression, unlearning, and building community!

OBey Foundation is a nonprofit cultural wellness organization. Harmony Health is a community based, culturally responsive, social justice mental health agency. Partnered, we've created an experience unlike any others. This is NOT a tourist journey. It is our family property in which we share with others to experience going back to the Motherland intentionally, on the coast, with service, wellness, healing, disruption, cultural learning and life transformative experiences and community.

This journey begins the day you commit. Once your spot is reserved by an application and deposit, you are added to a Private FB group [the family] to ask questions, see additional pictures, ask about experiences, needs, fears, excitement, thoughts, joys and more. 

This Service trip provides an opportunity for you to not only raise funds for an international NGO and service program, but to be hands-on in that process by traveling abroad. This trip has service components. A personal service project is selected and supported while in the States.  While abroad, you will be placed with OYC Staff to do the groundwork to complete that project. Usually, we receive funds to support our OYC humanitarian services, but rarely do those supporters know what it takes on the other side to accomplish those tasks.

This service trip is also designed for the participant to EXPERIENCE another way of life through disruption of individualistic culture and experiencing collective culture. This journey emphasizes disrupting Implicit Biases, Judgements and learning another cultural perspective.

There are historical sites that we will visit, and you will stay at Ocean Breeze Healing Resort in the village to experience the village life of others.

Based on the number of participants, 1 or 2 hosts will accompany the journey. If the group size is too small to include 2 hosts, and you prefer to have 2 hosts, there is an additional fee.

  • Additional Activities offered [hair braiding, horseback riding, massages, etc]
  • Additional transport to other activities, destinations not listed on itinerary
  • Additional meals at other locations or bottle water beyond provisions

  • Ghanaian Visa

This journey requires walking, standing, lifting, bending, inclined walking, has stairs, and getting on and off buses, in and out of cars. Please consider if you are able to participate. Refunds are not given for scheduled activities that one cannot participate in.

A non-refundable deposit will be required to reserve your spot. The total cost for this ALL INCLUSIVE LAND PACKAGE trip is $3000/pp ages 13 and over. $2600 pp for children ages [5 -13] if staying in the same room with caregivers. 
It is based on double occupancy and at times, triple or quadruple occupancy. If you are traveling with a family, please indicate that in the roommate section. Please list all family members to be placed in the same room for planning. 
If you know your roommate ahead of time, please indicate that on your roommate section, if not one will be selected for you.

Monthly Payment Plan is STRONGLY suggested. Balance MUST be paid in full by  April 10th, 2025 NO EXCEPTIONS. You May prepay if you wish. NO REFUNDS if Canceled after February 10th, 2025. ALL Accommodations, transport arrangements, tour schedules will have been made. 85% REFUND of COSTS MINUS DEPOSIT ([$Amount Paid- $250] x 85%) if canceled prior to February 10th, 2025.

Completed Application Packet Includes Application, Travel Waiver, Non-Refundable deposit. Save a copy of your application for your records. This trip is 1st come, 1st serve. A Completed Packet is what will Hold Your spot. Package price includes: All accommodations, 3 meals per day plus bottled water, transport to and from airport, scheduled cultural tours and activities. I understand that my personal traveling, shopping and any other personal expenses are NOT included.

You may Coordinate travel with travel agent. If you have travel credits, please inform the travel agent so that he/she can assist in coordinating those details. We have specific times for you to arrive and depart to coordinate airport transport. The times required for flights are: Arrival in ACCRA on the 25th between 10am-10pm. We will return to ACCRA on the 8th, stay the night for all to fly out on the 22nd. There is an option to fly to Central Region rather than the 4hr drive from Accra. Those options will be provided to you at your expense. You can also purchase trip insurance at your cost with travel agency. If changes are made to with dates or due to natural disasters, WE WILL UPDATE ASAP. Please submit your Flight itinerary to IABConsultingNC@gmail.com NO Later than April 5th, 2025.

You are required to have a passport that does not expire within SIX months of proposed travel. Yellow Fever is required for travel to West Africa. A Visa is required to travel to Ghana, which requires an invitation letter from Obey Foundation. These are additional costs to you [not the invitation letter from Obey Foundation].

Future communications will be delivered through email or by conference call/webinar. Please check email for updates, travel info/details, confirmation receipts, or scheduled calls to answer questions. You will be added to a Private Facebook [FB] Group [if applicable] to be connected to other participants or previous family members who have experienced the journey. Please ask your questions in advance so that any concerns, needs or inquiries can be addressed ahead of time for preparation. It is preferred to ask questions in the FB Group FIRST, then contact IAB. If you do not have FB, please email questions to IAB Consulting.
