Mission & Friends of MSCR Activities
Friends of MSCR is a non-profit organization consisting of community members who actively promote the goals of Madison School & Community Recreation by enlisting financial support for public recreational and enrichment activities.

Friends of MSCR supports MSCR programs and through a micro-grant process twice each year, that allows MSCR staff to request grants to support programs, initiatives and equipment they are unable to fund within their budgets. Friends of MSCR also maintains and contributes to an endowment fund and serves as the fiscal sponsor for the food pantry operated out of the MSCR Meadowood Neighborhood Center.

Friends of MSCR primary fundraising activities are the annual Fore Friends Golf Outing in July and the Online Auction in November.
Board Member Expectations

The Friends of MSCR Board meets on a monthly basis (typically the third Thursday from 12-1pm) and Board members should expect to commit an average of a few hours per month. Primary fundraising activities are an annual golf outing in July and a silent auction in November.
Each Director should be willing to make the following commitments to the organization:
  • We ask that each Board member actively advocate for Friends of MSCR and participate in fundraising activities. That could include reaching out to an employer, colleagues or individuals in their network for monetary or in-kind donations.
  • We ask that each Board member actively engage in board work, in addition to attending monthly meetings. This could include leading or contributing to board projects, committees and fundraising events, sharing professional expertise, or representing MSCR in the community.
  • We ask that each Board member make a financial contribution that is meaningful to them.
