for elementary students. It requires some prior knowledge including greetings, introductions, colors, numbers 1-10, alphabet and expressing feelings, the verb ser, adjective/noun agreement, some activities, saying what you like and don't like and asking questions for clarification.
In My Family and I class, students will learn vocabulary and grammar concepts in order to discuss their family. They will review descriptions by discussing what family members are like and learn some new adjectives for describing. They will also learn to tell time and say the date including days of the week and months. Finally, they will learn how to talk about some every day activities.
Since immersion is the best way to learn a new language, much of the class will be conducted in Spanish with occasional instruction in English as needed. Classes will combine speaking, reading, writing and listening skills in an engaging and creative way.
Content will include*:
- Vocabulary about family members & every day life
- Verb/Adjective Agreement (review)
- Ask and tell ages
- Talk about birthday; months/days of week
- Express possession (possessive pronouns & the verb TO have)
- Review as needed: Colors, Numbers, Alphabet, Greetings, Introductions & Feelings, Common activities, adjectives to describe, the verb SER (to be), discussing likes and dislikes
Duration: My Family and I class will meet weekly for 55 min. Tuesdays from 4:30-5:25pm beginning March 28-May 16th. (7 in-person classes) **** Important***--- We will NOT meet April 4th but a BONUS video lesson will be sent home for that week and will be strongly encouraged! We will still meet in person for 7 classes total, but I will provide 8 weeks of content.
Students should arrive 5-10 min early prepared to begin promptly at 4:30pm. Regular attendance is strongly recommended.
Location: The class will meet at the Kaw Prairie Church (9421 Meadow View Dr, Lenexa, KS 66227) upstairs in room 203.

Important: Classes must be paid in full to reserve a spot. Cancellation is only allowed up to 7 days prior to the first session for a 50% refund. No refunds will be given after classes begin.
Expectations: Students will attend all classes and will practice 1-2 hours per week outside of class to reinforce content taught (approx. 4X per week). (Fun) Homework will be provided and strongly encouraged to maximize learning potential.

Class sizes will be limited to 12 students and registration will be accepted on a first come basis. If class fills up and there is enough interest, a separate class will be opened up at a time that is TBD. If Emerson Language Academy cannot accommodate your registration, a full refund will be issued.
