Program Criteria: (Changes have been made. Please read carefully)
Focus on Youth Summer Program supports opportunities for a positive transition to adulthood by creating summer employment opportunities for high school students who may be disengaged from school and/or experienced barriers to employment as a result of their home or school environment, which include low academic achievement, family conflict, and/or conflict with the law. Some students also earn academic credits through the program.
*All applications are subject to revised policies and administrative changes prescribed by the Ministry of Education.
Student leaders may be selected by the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and placed with community groups in accordance with Ministry guidelines and mandate.
Community groups must provide a supportive work environment for student leaders with on-site supervision.
Students cannot be given responsibility to manage summer programs independently.
Students require 20 to 35 hours each week of meaningful employment.
Students are hired and paid by Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board.
Supervisors are required to submit weekly time sheets.
Community groups will be required to submit a summary at the end of the program outlining success stories, testimonials and feedback analysis.
