ISD Summer School 2024 Online Learning Application - High School (9-12 only)

Issaquah School District graduation requirements are established to provide each student with the best possible educational experiences and to comply with Washington State statutes. As explained in Regulation 2410P, the Issaquah School District may grant up to four (4) credits toward high school graduation requirements or required minimum college admissions courses taken outside of the Issaquah School District provided:

1. The request is approved by the school counselor and Online Learning Administrator prior to the student’s participation in the program. Approval cannot be granted retroactively.
2. The course meets all applicable state standards as required by WAC 180-51-068, WAC 392-410-310 and -340, and WAC 392-121-182, and is from a Washington State accredited institution or is otherwise an ISD approved program.
3. The course complies with all applicable standards and procedures established under Regulation 2410 – High School Graduation Requirements, Regulation 2024 – Online Learning, and Regulation 2255 – Alternative Learning Experience Programs.
4. Per District Regulation 2410P, for purposes of graduation no more than 50% of a subject area requirement, no more than 2 credits in one school year, and no more than 4 credits overall can be from outside courses of study and online learning.

Eligibility:
Grade 9-12: 2023-2024 School Year
Students in grades 5-8 during school year 2023-2024, please complete the Middle School Application.

ISD Online Learning Information:
Start Date: Tuesday, June 18, 2024
End Date: Monday, July 22, 2024
All coursework and tests must be completed by July 22, 2024. The orientation and coursework will be completed online. Unit tests and the semester exam will be taken in person.

Course Length:
Students taking one semester long course can expect to spend at least 15-20 hours per week working on their course. Students taking two semester long courses can expect to spend at least 30-40 hours per week working on their Online Learning course. Each semester long course covers 18 weeks of curriculum that must be completed in 5 weeks. Students can't take a year-long course in summer school.  For an example, students cannot take Geometry A & B at the same time.

Credit Recovery:
Students can only take a credit recovery course online if it is not offered in In Person Summer School.

Sequencing:
- If students are taking the first semester of a year-long class, they will finish in the fall, spring or next summer.
- If students are taking the second semester of a year-long class, they either started in the spring or previous summer.
- Students can take a semester-long class for the summer.

Tuition:
- $425 per course

Textbook and/or Materials Fee:
- Most of our AP courses have a required textbook and/or course materials that need to be obtained and purchased. 
-Some of our Language Arts courses require novels. These are required to be obtained by the student and their family. Most of the novels could be checked out at the library.
-Please visit the Course Directory and select the course you are interested in. The syllabus will inform you what is required and/or optional for the course. 

All Courses (except PE and electives)
Module Unit and Final Tests will be taken in person during designated testing sessions with an ISD test proctor at an ISD high school or the Admin Building. The majority of courses have 6 unit tests and a final test. Transportation is not provided.  Sign-ups are online.
All testing times can be found on our testing webpage. No testing time exceptions given.
