Did you have difficult pregnancy or birth?
Has your child experienced a traumatic event or early medical difficulties?
Are you parenting a child who has been abused or neglected?
If so, your child may be suffering from the effects of trauma, and traditional parenting may not be effective.
Rethinking Parenting teaches and reinforces the fact that we are made by a loving God to connect in relationship with others. We will learn about trauma and how it impacts our kids. We will look at how to create healthy attachments in children and empower parents with tools and strategies to effectively meet the needs of their children in order to build trust.
Parents will leave with a holistic understanding of the impacts of trauma, as well as an understanding of the physical and emotional needs of children. The role of nutrition, hydration, sleep, and sensory play in their children’s lives. They will also leave with a plan to begin implementing these at home.
This 4-hour trust-based parent training was created to be an interactive learning experience specifically for adoptive and foster parents. The content was developed while working with foster and adoptive children, but the principles can be applied to all parent/child relationships.
