I am 18 years of age or older and agree to care for the foster animal(s) on behalf of the Sacramento SPCA as instructed by the Animal Release Department and the Sacramento SPCA Foster Program policies and procedures. *
I understand that the foster animal(s) are temporarily in my care and that the animal(s) belongs exclusively to the Sacramento SPCA; I agree to return the animal(s) to the Sacramento SPCA within the timeframe specified by the Sacramento SPCA. *
I understand that I need to keep in regular contact with the Sacramento SPCA and respond to all communication in a timely manner while the foster animal(s) is in my care. *
I understand that the foster animal(s) may have not received a full behavioral and/or medical evaluation. I understand that other animals in my household could be exposed to medical or behavioral conditions that have not recognized in the foster animal(s) placed with me. The Sacramento SPCA is not liable for any disease or injury of my own companion animal(s), other exposed animals, or myself and any other persons exposed to the foster animal. *
I understand that I will be responsible for the daily care, feeding, and medicating of the foster animal(s) placed in my care. I agree to contact the Sacramento SPCA immediately if there are any notable changes in the health or behavior of the foster animal(s). *
I agree to report any urgent matters relating to the foster animal(s) to the Sacramento SPCA immediately. Urgent matters include, but are not limited to: the foster animal(s) becoming ill or injured, the foster animal(s) going missing, a bite, which breaks skin, occurring to myself or any other persons involving the foster animal(s). *
I understand that all veterinary care for the foster animal(s) will be provided directly by the Sacramento SPCA. In the event of a medical emergency, I agree to adhere to the Sacramento SPCA’s emergency veterinary protocol for my foster animal(s). I understand that if I choose to take the foster animal(s) to my own veterinary clinic without approval from the Sacramento SPCA I will be responsible for all fees. *
I agree to follow any training or behavior management plan supplied to me by the Sacramento SPCA. I agree to use the equipment supplied to me by the Sacramento SPCA and will not use other equipment without receiving approval from the Foster or Behavior Departments. I agree to never use aversive training methods, including but not limited to: choke chains, prong collars, shock collars, jerking on or "popping" the leash, spraying animals with water or other liquid, using loud noises to startle animals, or using physical punishment. If I experience behavior issues with the foster animal(s) in my care, I agree to contact the Animal Release or Behavior Departments at the Sacramento SPCA for guidance. *
I understand that the Sacramento SPCA will provide all vital supplies for the foster animal(s). If I am in need of addition supplies, I understand I must contact the Sacramento SPCA. I understand that if I opt to purchase any additional supplies to care for the foster animal(s), I will not be reimbursed. *
I understand that when the foster animal(s) is returned to the Sacramento SPCA any determination made about the ultimate disposition, health, and outcome of the animal will be made solely by the Sacramento SPCA. *
I understand that if I, or any adopter that I have found, wish to adopt my foster animal(s), all Sacramento SPCA adoption procedures and fees apply. *
I understand that if any circumstances develop whereby I cannot continue to care for the foster animal(s), the animal(s) need to be returned to the Sacramento SPCA. Furthermore, I acknowledge that the Sacramento SPCA reserves the right to remove any foster animal(s) from my care at any time. *
I agree to provide temporary care for the Sacramento SPCA animal(s) placed in my care as a foster parent volunteer and adhere to all policies, procedures, and guidelines set by the Sacramento SPCA. *
