Timings:

Timings will be confirmed closer to the date of the course, but below is a rough indication of timings:

Half-day Courses: Monday-Friday at 10:00-12:30 (no lunch provided)
Supplemental Sessions: Wednesday and Thursday at 13:00-16:30 (no lunch provided).
Full-day Courses: Monday-Thursday at 10:00-16:30 and Friday at 10:00-13:30 (optional lunch provided).

We reserve the right to alter the start and end times if weather or river conditions dictate. The time change is unlikely to be more than 1 hour earlier or later. In exceptional cases (e.g. extreme heat, extreme wind, very strong stream), the head coach may need to bring forward or delay the start of the course by more than 1 hour. The club will be open for course attendees, with staff cover, for the times stated above as a minimum.

Food:

A two course hot lunch, and refreshments will be supplied for full day courses only. We regret that we cannot cater for severe food allergies. Please indicate your food preference on the booking form at the time of booking, if appropriate.

Accommodation:

No accommodation is included in the course fee.

Participation:

The course involves river outings in single sculls. In the course of training, it is fairly common that athletes fall in the water. Athletes are reminded to bring at least one change of clothes each day.

Once on the river, coaching instructions are shouted or delivered through a megaphone. This is common, and often necessary for audibility, as the distance between boats can be large.

Athletes are filmed so that technique and performance can be analysed. The objective of the courses is to coach sculling.

We reserve the right to make decisions about participation on safety grounds.

Safety:

The tidal Thames can be a dangerous environment if not approached correctly. Safety and navigation are therefore of the utmost importance, and extensively covered in daily briefings. Athletes should, at all times, adhere to the safety instructions given by the coaching team. Athletes must be able to swim a minimum of 200 metres unaided in light clothing.

While the Club retains responsibility for safety during coached sessions, it does not take responsibility for athletes' welfare or conduct when off the water between these sessions or on the way to and from the Club.

Equipment:

The Club provides all necessary equipment for training on and off the water, but athletes are welcome to bring their own sculling boats and blades to use on the course.

Please note, this may not be possible in every circumstance but we will do our very best to accommodate any additional needs.

Cancellations and refunds:

Cancellations are refunded at the Course Organiser's absolute discretion. Please ensure you have sufficient insurance in place should you be unable to attend and we are unable to make a refund as per the conditions below:

Early cancellations: Cancellations are fully refunded up to six weeks before the commencement of the Course.
Late cancellations: Cancellations received less than six weeks prior to the commencement of the course will only be refunded if the place can be filled in good time prior to the course's commencement. If we are able to fill the place, a refund will be paid minus a £50 admin fee.
Last-minute withdrawals: No refund is made if a participant withdraws after the course has commenced.
Amendments: Amendments to another course will be accommodated subject to availability and the payment of a £30 admin fee. If a participant subsequently cancels their second course (at any time), this will be treated as a late cancellation as per clause 2 (above).

An appropriate refund of fees will be made in the unlikely event that the Club is unable to run the course, or any substantial part of the course, for any reason.
