Following the pandemic, Central Valley saw academic and social and emotional learning losses in our students. To combat those losses, the district invested nearly $9 million in federal grants in staffing and programs. That federal funding is set to expire in 2024, threatening the advances the district has made since 2021. Central Valley has developed a plan to use $3.5 million in increased foundation aid to maintain that staffing and programming, specifically:
Reduced the teacher-to-student ratio in classrooms, particularly at the elementary and middle schools,
In-school academic supports for ELA and math,
Social worker and counselor staffing levels,
Physical and emotional health programming,
Partnership with Connected Community Schools to link school families with local services,
District-wide after school tutoring program,
Summer school programming and providing summer enrichment, and
Curriculum and associated professional development that address identified areas.
In addition, Central Valley will continue investing in:
- Equipment and staff to better maintain the facilities,
Updated technology to enable continuity of learning if ever forced to educate remotely in the future, and
Updated safety equipment and protocols.
