Become a CRLA Mail Night Volunteer!
Welcome! We are so glad you want to get involved with the LA chapter of Critical Resistance (CR). For those who are less familiar, CR is a national grassroots organization seeking to build an international movement to end the prison industrial complex (PIC) by challenging the belief that caging and controlling people makes us safe.

In addition to taking on campaign work to ☭dismantle☭ that which does not serve us; 💞change💞hearts, minds, and material conditions; and 👷build👷 life-affirming systems and webs of cares, each chapter of CR organizes and facilitates a 💌prisoner correspondence program💌

The primary goal and scope of our chapter-wide mail program is to build strong political relationships with folks inside, which keeps our work informed by inside leadership; to share abolitionist resources and political education materials to be in study and struggle together; and to provide resources and advocacy tools for self-determination.

Our chapter is planning to meet once a month on the third Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. PDT over Zoom to provide some community and accountability for this work. If you are interested in volunteering with our chapter's mail program, please fill out this form even if you cannot make it to the monthly Zoom meet-ups. Most of the writing takes place offline, and folks who cannot make it to the Zoom meet-ups can be and are assigned mail to respond to!
