NVR (Non Violent Resistance) Parent Course
We have managed to secure a NVR trainer to deliver a NVR course to families starting in September (spaces are limited)

The course is designed to effectively respond to children who display aggressive, harmful or self-destructive behaviour.  NVR is successfully used with anxious children, whose obsessive-controlling behaviour controls the family, or who isolate themselves socially, have become addicted to the internet, or refuse to go to school.

Using NVR, you will carefully develop ‘strategies’ to respond to the controlling behaviour, that at first may appear strange and counterintuitive, but that are very different from the reactions you have shown before.  However, this is not “behaviour management” – these are strategies for making peace in the family and changing relationships.  Making peace  requires constructively challenging harmful behaviour, refusing to be controlled by harmful behaviour, and reaching out and reconciling with the young person – to again become the parent who can look after their child’s needs.

You need to be able to commit to the full course which is for 6 weeks for 4 hours per session.  It will be held in school.  Dates and times will be confirmed.

As spaces are limited, we will confirm places after half term.  An initial workshop will need to be attended prior to the course starting in September.  Details of this are below:
