2020-2021 Waitlist Applicant (Magnet Bus Application - Current JICHS)
Greetings!

This Application is for incoming & current students outside the James Island/Folly attendance zone who fill out who missed the original deadline for the choice (bus) application or intent bus form.
Per the South Carolina Code of Laws and the James Island Charter High School By-Laws, James Island Charter High School is only required to transport students who are assigned to Attendance Zone 3, which is James Island and Folly Beach. Transportation for choice application students is the responsibility of the parents or guardians.

However, as seating and funding are available, students may have access to Magnet Bus Transportation based on a first come first served basis giving preference to students’ grade level. There is a fee for this service.

The Magnet Bus Service has historically sent two buses to Johns Island and two buses to West Ashley. Each bus has a capacity of 52 students. Transportation requests are completed via this form and are time-stamped once submitted. Transportation is granted on a first-come, first-served basis. For the 2020-2021 School year, we are adding one more route for West Ashley. **If demand outweighs the capacity the Board of Directors could possibly approve another bus**.

When a seat is available you will be contacted by email that was submitted in the application. The cost for the Magnet Bus Service will be $100 per semester or $200 for the entire school year (see below for more details). Payment will be accepted in August 2020 during our Fact and Fee Week. Otherwise, you risk losing your seat and being added to the waitlist. Remember, riding on this bus is a privilege. Students who violate the JICHS Student Code of Conduct may be dismissed from this service. NO MONEY WILL BE REFUNDED IN THE CASE OF DISCIPLINARY DISMISSALS. Also, because the Magnet Bus Service operates at capacity, students are not permitted to switch from one bus to another.  Students are expected to arrive at their bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time. *Fee adjustments have been made due to COVID.

Please visit the James Island Charter High School website (jichs.ccsdschools.com) for the most up-to-date bus stops and times. Your information will be provided to the bus driver in order to ensure that only registered students ride on the bus.
