Creative Puppetry for French 
Dear educator / parent / carer,

At Le Petit Monde Stories, we are passionate about language learning through play. We believe every young child who is learning a language needs opportunities to engage with accessible and bilingual stories so they can safely, playfully and confidently explore the language at their level of development and at their own pace.

In practice, this can be achieved through the Creative Puppetry for Languages method I have developed through research, which is based on bilingual storytelling - and particularly Translanguaging - creativity and play. Educators also found our innovative approach to be inclusive, cross-curricular and accessible.

One strand of our work will be to support French learning and teaching through our unique Creative Puppetry for French toolkits. By filling in this short survey, you will help us shape the content of these toolkits according to your needs, as a professional educator, parent or carer. 

With the aim to support the Early Years community, we are turning Le Petit Monde Stories into a not-for-profit social enterprise. So your thoughts are really important to us. Please be honest and give us as much information as possible... 

Your responses will be anonymously and confidentially used to help us develop our French Toolkits.

The  French Toolkit Box content
Based on educators having previously used these resources for our research, we plan for the Creative Puppetry for French Toolkit box to contain:
  • One of the Lapin bilingual picture books (written by myself and published by CALEC/ TBR Books)
  • A set of 5 prototype hand-made puppets (characters from the book)
  • Card templates to use for puppet making
  • Printed Lapin song lyrics
  • Printed information explaining the CP4F method and its benefits to adults and children
  • Printed guidelines for puppet making

The Toolkit digital resources
Through our research, we found that revisiting the story from the book in different ways helped children keeping engaged with it and its French content. So the French Toolkit would also include:
  • Access to the digital version
  • Access to the audio version
  • Access to the video of myself - the author - reading the book
