Application to join Unlock Biology
Learning Biology should not be just about memorising or absorbing information.

Unlock Biology is an exciting new initiative encouraging critical thinking and problem solving in school-age biology students whilst also improving access. We achieve this by delivering teaching workshops to students at target schools!

In joining you’ll be able to develop an impressive range of useful skills and while doing so, enjoy working with others who are passionate about teaching and enhancing education. We promise it'll be fun and rewarding.

Roles available:

Academic officer: This involves running workshops and teaching students! This entails working with students and academics to build on our material for use in our camps. Requires excellent leadership and communication skills.

Outreach: Involves networking with schools, and presenting Unlock Biology to biology departments. This will entail engaging with teachers, liaising with universities, access departments and requires commitment to improving critical thinking in biology.

Sponsorship and Finance: Be prepared put your sales skills to test and pitch Unlock Biology to people and organisations to secure funding for the initiative!

Webmaster: Making and maintaining the website. A low commitment but incredibly important role for maintaining engagement with the wider community, including schools and other partners.

Marketing: Responsible for advertising of Unlock Biology on social media platforms. Also involves updating social media platforms regularly with interesting articles  to keep engagement.

All of these roles are quite flexible in their description, if you feel you want to bring something different to the table, please let us know! Being on committee we'd expect a commitment of roughly 2-3 hours per week.

The most important thing is passion for teaching and improving education!
