We are seeking to build community power by investing in emerging organizers who seek to sustain the movement for Black lives by transforming their local communities. We believe, movements that are enlightened by people interwoven into the fabric of community must be properly equipped to sustain. We as Black people should not only feel empowered during this moment, but supported, and annotated to position of power in all industries. This initiative will award micro grants of up to $5,000, provide professional leadership coaching, and networking opportunities. We encourage emerging Bay Area community organizers and leaders to apply!
THE PROCESS
Our first round of applications are by invitation only.
APPLICATION WILL OPEN SEPT. 1, 2023, AND CLOSE SEP 15, 2023 @ 5 PM (PST). Applicants will be notified mid-October.Once selected, Changemakers must commit to attending weekly 1:1 coaching sessions, monthly group sessions, and contribute to original publishing opportunities, beginning in January, 2024 and continuing through July 2024. Note that Changemakers will have access to coaches for up to two hours per month scheduled at a time convenient for both the coach and Changemaker. Grants will be awarded based on the goals of individual projects. By month three each Changemaker will be introduced to our publishing partner to discuss publishing opportunities. Based on past cohorts we estimate a commitment of 4-6 hour per month.
