What is Growing the STEM? Our 501(c)3 organization creates and supports after school math, science and engineering programs in Coeur d’Alene public schools while developing youth leaders. Our programs are fun, relationship-based, and open to students of all ability levels from gifted to special needs, with a centralized focus on outreach to getting under-represented groups excited about math and STEM, including girls, students from low income families, and students who especially need academic enrichment. We guide and pay teachers to lead these programs, we recruit and train volunteer student coaches to support the teachers, and we inspire teachers, coaches (middle and high school students) and students (elementary and middle  schools) to get excited about STEAM.

Trivia Night is our largest annual fundraiser. Money raised will fund after school math programs and will celebrate our hard working teachers with a fun night out. School teams (teachers) will battle through rounds of lively trivia questions centered around math, current topics, pop culture, history and more. Sponsor levels vary and you may even purchases a table for 6 teachers at your chosen school (the teachers will assemble the team).

The Need: great: an overwhelming 800+ students at 14 public schools in our community were impacted by over 40 programs during the 2022-2023 school year. Ninety volunteer student coaches and 30+ public school teachers worked to lead and inspire these students.

In 2023-2024, we are offering 43 programs in 14 public elementary and middle public in CDA.  With studies identifying math as the area where students have lost the most learning over the past three years, we are working hard to raise funds to fulfill these requests! Will you help us reach our goals?
