Te Kura Centenary 1922 - 2022
Te Kura will celebrate its Centenary next year. By any standards, as Te Kura and previously the Correspondence School, we have much to celebrate, with a remarkable history that has often reflected social and education change over 100 years.

We have come a very long way from 1922 when the sole teacher, Janet MacKenzie, set up a correspondence “scheme” in a small office at the then Department of Education, to the largest school in the country and a leader in online learning.

We are currently planning a range of activities and events to mark this Centenary of distance learning – from the days of paper and post to the digital age.

We would love to hear from past (and present) staff and students if you have stories to tell and/or to register your interest in receiving information about the 2022 celebrations.
