Q: What’s new in the 2022-23 budget?
A: As we move out of COVID restrictions, we have restored some budget line items to pre-COVID levels to support in-person engagement. We continue to support our staff and school and are looking for more ways to support the community as a whole, with social events and opportunities to support students and families.
Q: How is the PTCC able to have a negative balance? What does this mean?
A: This year, we have overestimated some expenses in order to support our staff and community as much as possible and we have underestimated our income from the Spring Auction. We have sufficient cash reserves to cover the expenses.Q: Why do we have a high ending cash balance?
A: As a 501(c)(3) organization, the PTCC must operate in a fiscally responsible manner, which includes maintaining a cash reserve to help ensure it may continue to operate for many years to come. The PTCC budgets for a cash reserve equal to one year of anticipated expenses. The additional cash available for allocations can be used for ad-hoc GLOBE projects, but also a reserve for unforeseen needs.
Q: What is the Teacher Classroom Supplies budget line item?
A: As a GLOBE community, we understand the financial responsibility of preparing a classroom for the most advantageous learning environment (either in-person or virtual). In an attempt to assist with some of the expenses, the PTCC provides each classroom lead teacher $300 and connections departments at each campus $500 at the beginning of the school year to purchase classroom necessities throughout the year.
Q: Why is the Teacher/Staff Gift Fund reflected in the PTCC budget?
A: The PTCC budget includes all amounts coming in or going out of the PTCC accounts. All money received for the Teacher/Staff Gift Fund will be used for teacher gifts two times a year: the winter holidays and the end of the year during teacher appreciation week. In short, we collect money for this fund and distribute every penny directly to the amazing GLOBE teachers and staff.
Q: What will happen if we don’t receive the budgeted amount of donations for the Teacher/Staff Gift Fund? Or what if we receive more than the budgeted amount?
A: We are requesting a donation of $50 per student for the Teacher/Staff Gift Fund. We will spend all amounts received in the fund. This means if we receive less than our budget, we’ll give less, and if we receive more than our budget, we’ll give more.
