Expert Talk on "Learning Difficulty in Children" by Dr. Anwesha Chakrabarti
 Abstract: Learning difficulty(LD) involves difficulty with basic academic skills such as reading, writing, and mathematical skill. Children with LD face difficulty in perception and processing of information. These individuals have average or above average intellectual ability, but because of these deficits they face difficulties in academics.
The prevalence rate of learning disability is quite high in India. The rate is 1 to 19 percentage of school going children.  It is also observed that the rate of prevalence is often underreported as parents and teachers lack awareness.
The discussion will cover the features of specific learning difficulties, its types, and issues regarding diagnosis. The discussion will also focus on the associated socio-emotional conditions and how does it affect the mental health of the children. The expert will also cover the intervention planning or management strategies.
