During the Acker Rock climb(s) in a few weekends, you will be working in a team of three people. You will have the same partners for the entire day. I try to be deliberate about assigning teams, looking to create groups that will maximize our safety and expediency, as well as our opportunities to teach and to learn. In working with folks who identify as members of underrepresented minorities, I've learned that some climbers get more out of the climbing experience when they get to work with climbers with whom they share one or more aspects of their identity.
If you have a preference to climb with other folks with whom you have shared identity, please let me know. This could be a simple email that says, "Hey Matt, I'd prefer to have at least one other woman on my team if possible" or "Hey Matt, I don't often get to climb with other queer people; I'd appreciate the opportunity!" If you'd rather talk to me about it rather than respond to this survey, you can email me at matthew.sundling@gmail.com or call me at 518-598-6544. I will do my best to accommodate all requests.
