Art: The middle school art elective is for those who want to further explore their creative side, experimenting with drawing, painting, sculpture and more. The elective class also works on school projects such as the book fair and yearbook.
Drama: This is a participation class. The semester-long class leads to a large group play production. Students will be required to be actors and learn set, costume and prop design. Students will also write a short script which they will perform with props and costumes. They will in addition participate in memorization and improvisation activities.
Computer Science Discoveries: (CS Discoveries) is an introductory computer science course that empowers students to create authentic artifacts and engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun.
Spanish I: This course follows the same curriculu as Spanish I at Bishop Kelly High School. In Spanish class, we work hard, we invite native speakers, create videos, write essays, listen and translate music, we work in order to improve writing, reading, and speaking...but most of all, we have fun!!! Spanish is a two semester class. Students may take a full year or they can take fall semester in 7th grade and spring semester in 8th grade. It is recommended that students take it fall and spring of the same year. Students who take this class pass the Spanish placement exam at Bishop Kelly and will move onto Spanish II.
Reading Club: Students will select books to read and discuss their reading with one another. The goal of this class is to provide middle school students time to read of fun and continue to grow and expand the love for literature.
Student Helper: students will get assigned to a kindergarten through fifth grade classroom to work in and with students for the last period of the day. This is great opportunity to be a role model and work with and teacher younger students.
