The teachers and administrators of the Forrestdale School National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) welcome you! In order to be considered for induction to the Forrestdale School NJHS, you must meet the following requirements:
→ Maintained a cumulative average from the first and second trimester in each academic class that is 94 or above (92 or above in accelerated subject areas in math and ELA). Academic subject areas include math, ELA, social studies, science, health, and world language.
→ Maintained a B or higher from the first and second trimester in each special area class. Candidates shall then be evaluated on the basis of service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
If you have met the requirements of membership, you will receive a letter in the mail inviting you to apply to NJHS. Only students who have received a letter will be eligible to apply to NJHS. In this form you will complete the follow parts of your application:
1.) Select a date to write your Character Essay
2.) Share the Recommendation Form link with a member of the community who will speak to your leadership, service, character and/or citizenship
3.) Digitally sign the Student Commitment
4.) List up to 5 honors and awards earned for academic excellence in the last two years.
5.) List up to 5 in-school and community activities in which you have participated in the past two years. Include clubs, teams, musical groups, major accomplishments, etc.
6.) List up to 5 leadership experiences you have had at school or in the community in the last two years.
7.) List up to 5 service activities in which you have participated in the last two years.
The essay writing portion of your application will be proctored in person on the date you select in this form. Further details about the essay writing are included in the NJHS Essay Prompt & Rubric that is below.
