UVA PhD+ Science Policy Bootcamp
Registration will close on Dec 20, 2019 or when capacity is reached.

What is the UVA PhD+ Science Policy Bootcamp? This intensive and interactive course will expose participants to the public policy process with a focus on issues of science and technology (S&T). If you think you might be interested in a career in science policy, this week will give you a good idea of the types of opportunities available and the variety of work you could do. The working agenda is at https://phdplus.virginia.edu/core-module/science-policy.

Should I attend if I have gone to a past UVA bootcamp? Yes! This course is designed quite differently and will expose you to additional skills development.

Who will the instructors and guests be? We will feature guests with perspectives on science policy from the state, federal, and international levels. Two workshops will allow participants to apply the skills they are learning to policy scenarios. Please see the agenda on the UVA PhD Plus website for details.

Do I have to do anything outside of class? Participants will be expected to do some outside reading ahead of the course and during the week.

Location: Rotunda Multipurpose Room

Dates: January 6-10, 2020 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. Each day there will be an optional breakfast beginning at 8:00AM with special guests such as former Mirzayan Fellows, AAAS S&T Policy Fellows, etc.

Seating is limited so please register only if you are able to attend all sessions.
