What is Improv
longform/Armando?
A long-form is a continuous improvised piece which is inspired from a
suggestion at the start, opposed to the short form games that you often see in
improv comedy. In the long-form format “Armando” a storyteller will tell a
short monologue that will be the inspiration for the following scenes. A long-form has less
structure or games; the players create storylines themselves, with characters, often
deeper relationships and finding the game during the performance. The scenes are
often connected, they can jump through time and space with edits, without
interruptions from the host.
What do we expect from a player during the course?
You need a decent improv base to play long-form. We will focus
thoroughly on building platform, create characters, let the story evolve from
the relationship, explore storylines, connections and patterns (finding the
game), and editing scenes.
If you want to sign up for this course we ask commitment, because, more than in short form, you have to rely on the other members of your group. If you now know or suspect that you will miss 2 lessons of the 8 we ask you not to sign up.
We aim to
set up a group based on experience and skills a match with the other players. Some
requirements are: the ability to play as part of a group (instead of individual),
building platforms and create meaningful scenes, ability to being directed,
high rate of attending lessons in the past, motivation.
