Join Hillel Milwaukee for a Sigd Celebration Watch Party and Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, November 3 at 11 am.

Join Jews around the world for a virtual celebration of Jewish Unity in honor of the Ethiopian Jewish Holiday, Sigd. Enjoy a delicious vegetarian Ethiopian lunch followed by a discussion led by Hillel staff.

Sigd is an ancient Jewish holiday that has been observed for centuries by the Jewish Ethiopian community. The celebration will feature a conversation with guest speaker Rabbi Dr. Sharon Shalom who immigrated to Israel alone from Ethiopia through Operation Moses and now teaches at Bar-Ilan University and serves as a Rabbi of the "Kedoshei Yisrael" community in Kiryat Gat. The conversation will be moderated by Sigal Kanotopsky, the Regional Director to the Northeast for the Jewish Agency for Israel and will feature guest artist Aveva Dese, an Ethiopian-Israeli Singer and Songwriter.
