Join the Mālama Learning Center as we strive to heal the land and sea through restoration efforts in Leeward O'ahu as a part of our Ola Nā Kini program! We will be hosting monthly community workdays that span mauka to makai every second Saturday of the month rotating between 3 sites - Pālehua Dryland Forest (above Makakilo), Nānākuli Muliwai (Zablan's Beach), and Awawalei Food Forest site in Kunia.
As the COVID-19 situation is constantly evolving, so are these workdays. We will follow COVID-19 safety protocols, mahalo for your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our communities safe!
To ease logistical planning, we will only open up registration for a few workdays at a time.

Feb 10 - Pālehua dryland forest

April 13 - Awāwalei food forest
May 11 - Pālehua dryland forest
June 8 - Nānākuli muliwai
July 13 - Awāwalei food forest

Oct 12 - Awāwalei food forest
Nov 9 - Pālehua dryland forest
Dec 14 - Nānākuli muliwai
During these educational workdays, you will learn about the historical, cultural, and environmental benefits of native and food species followed by hana (work) that may include some or all of the following activities: Outplanting of native and food plants, removal of invasive species and debris, watering, mulching, seed collection/plant propagation, site preparation for future plantings, and harvesting food.
If you are interested in volunteering, please complete this form. We will select volunteers on a rolling basis (first come first serve) and ability to follow our COVID-19 safety protocols. All keiki must be accompanied by an adult. Carpooling to our sites is highly recommended.
After you complete this form, you will be notified by a follow up email, upon which, you will confirm your participation or the slot will be given to another party. If for some reason you need to cancel, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled workday.
