Thank you for proposing a course to be run as a topic under DTX 495. This is the process of getting your course approved:
1. Submit the following form by
for a course the following Spring semester.
2. The Curriculum meeting will meet in March and October to determine which course topics will be run the next semester.
3. If your course is approved and you are not a UIUC faculty member or academic professional, you will be required to go through the process of becoming an adjunct instructor. This process can take several weeks.
Marketing your course once it is approved:
1. SCD will add it to the Banner system so that students can register, will create a poster and/or images relating to the course, and will promote the course within SCD and on our social media pages.
2. We recommend that you promote the course as well. This can include posting the posters around campus as well as directly sharing the information with faculty, advisors, and students.
3. Please note that at least 10 undergraduate students need to register for the course in order for it to run. You will be able to see the number of students registered by logging into
Faculty Self Service. If 10 undergraduate students are not registered by the week before classes begin, the course will be canceled.
Running the course:1. One week before classes begin, please send a finalized copy of the syllabus to the Academic Programs Developer.
2. You will be added to SCD’s Slack and invited to weekly faculty meetings during the run of the course. At these meetings, you will be able to ask questions and get support from SCD staff and other faculty members.
